Precious Wilson
In 1975, Eruption entered and won the RCA Soul Search Contest. The prize was a recording contract with RCA Records. Their first single 7” single was”Let Me Take You Back in Time” released in 1976.
After many auditions the group were unsuccessful in finding a new lead singer, and so Precious Wilson who sang mostly backing vocals at the time, stepped forward to front the band, and so became the lead singer.
When the album “Eruption featuring Precious Wilson” was released in 1978, the reaction was favourable throughout Europe. Ariola America was the U.S. arm of Hansa Records and quickly seized the opportunity to issue the album in the U.S.
The following year they released the second album “Leave a Light” towards the end of 1978. “One Way Ticket” which, when issued in the US, received a remix by Rusty Garner for the 12” single. This song also brought them to the top of the charts internationally again (a UK number 9 hit. The song with its simple melody and catchy lyrics featured Precious Wilson’s great vocals.
Precious Wilson finally went solo in 1979 to pursue a solo career, and made several hugely successful albums in Europe, including the albums ” WE ARE ON THE RACE TRACK” and “ALL COLOURED IN LOVE”, and ever since, she has been working the world has been astonishing audiences with her performance world wide.
Her gorgeous soulful voice show cased other popular recording includes “RAISING MY FAMILY” and “CRY TO ME”.
Her single entitled “I’LL BE YOUR FRIEND” on Jive Records, underlines her appeal on the dance soul circuit. It reached the Top 40 in the Billboard R&B Charts.
In 1987 she teamed up with premier producers, Stock, Aitken and Waterman for one of the strongest disco recordings of 1987, “Only The Strong Survive.”
1990 was the year that Precious made her debut as an actress in the musical “Blues In The Night.” She, along with Stephanie Lawrence, Miquel Brown and Ewen Cummins were the principle characters. She received rave reviews.
She has appeared as a guest vocalist on the album of the Techno Eccentrics “MESSIAH” has. Together, they achieved a Top 20 single hit in the UK, with their version of Donna Summers ” I FEEL LOVE”.
Precious also co-wrote her second track on the Messiah album, entitled “Peace And Tranquility.”
Her unique voice has helped to established her as an international entertainer. This combined with her enduring classic recordings,has made her one of the great contributer to disco history.
PRECIOUS WILSON continues to woes her audience with her superb vocal talent, her stylish performances, her gorgeous soulful voice and her dynamic personal presence. Her vocal style still remains both sensual and exciting.
